Duration:
Our adult courses are created to run over 4 terms. This allows time to focus on our students’ needs and interests rather than rushing through the textbook. Also, for most people learning a language takes a lot of time and practice.
Language and Culture:
Besides working through the textbook, we also focus on explaining and experiencing aspects of German culture. All of our teachers are German native speakers and are happy to share some insights around the German culture and the region they are originally from.
Every term we usually have at least one fun-lesson where you won’t be working in your workbooks but on something entirely unrelated. This could be topics you ask your teacher to prepare or a topic that your teacher is passionate about. Or it could also be some kind of event such as a “Weißwurstfrühstück” (a Bavarian style breakfast).
Workbook and Curriculum:
The workbook contents prepare you to reach a certain standardised level (e.g. A1.1) and our fun lessons, activities and events aim towards a deeper understanding of cultural aspects.
Our curriculum aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and develops effective speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
A1 (A1.1–A1.2)
Learners develop basic comprehension of familiar words, phrases, and simple sentences in German. Understanding is supported by clear structure, repetition, and everyday contexts.
A2 (A2.1–A2.2)
Learners understand short texts and conversations on routine topics and everyday situations. They can identify main ideas and specific information in straightforward spoken and written German.
B1 (B1.1–B1.2)
Learners understand the main points of clear standard German on familiar matters. They can follow longer texts and discussions that include explanations, opinions, and narratives.
B2 (B2.1–B2.2)
Learners understand complex texts and extended discourse, including abstract ideas and implied meaning. They can follow detailed arguments and natural-speed spoken German.
C1–C2
Learners demonstrate advanced comprehension across a wide range of texts and spoken contexts. They understand nuanced, idiomatic, and culturally embedded language with a high degree of accuracy.
